A-Wing Starfighter This small, wedge-shaped craft has been the Alliance's main starfighter since it first saw full-scale deployment at the Battle of Endor. The lightweight A-Wing, co-designed bu General Jan Dodonna and Alliance engineer Walex Blissex to outrun any ship in the Imperial navy, has especially strong anionics, including a powerful jamming system that disrupts sensor readings and lets pilots blind enemy targets prior to attack. Originally designed for escort duty, the A-Wing has proved more suited to hit-and-run missions, blasting enemy sites and spacecraft with twin wing-mounted pivoting blaster cannons and concussion missiles. The downside of the A-Wing's speed and agility is its relativly high vanerabiliy in dogfights; the position of the cockpit leaves pilots exposed to enemy fire, making the craft's speed even more important. |
