Characters Lando Calrissian - Billy Dee Williams The gambler turned city administrator and dashing scoundrel turned hero, is just the way Lando likes his life to go. With a spirit of a soldier-of-fortune and the heart of a high-stakes player (just the way he is), Lando has had a love/hate relationship with his old friend Han Solo for years. The main reason for this, is Han's ship, the Millennium Falcon, which was owned by Lando before he lost it to Han in a game of sabacc. Before Lando lost it he had gone on a year long mission in search for treasures on the planets of the Rafa system. On this trip his love of gambling nearly cost him his life. Not long after he lost the Falcon, he won a great prize in another sabacc game; the planet Bespin's Cloud City, where he took over as Baron Administrator. He proved quite efficiannt at both running the Tibanna gas-mining colony and using it as cover for some of his more colourful activities. But Lando's luck ran short when Imperial forces led by Darth Vader visited. Vader told Lando he had to detain Solo and his companions, other wise he could say goodbye to and future he had hoped for. Feeling he had no choice Lando trapped Han and Princess Leia. But Vader went back on his word and put Han in carbonite and gave him to Boba Fett the bounty hunter. This act caused Lando to see sense and he helped the Rebels, he evactuated the city, and saved Leia, Chewie, the two droids and Luke from the city. He then set out to save his friend Han, from the bounty hunter. He failed in one early attempt to snatch him back. He was then side tracked by having to save Leia from the head of the Black Sun crime sydicate, Prince Xiror. Han was now entombed in Jabba's tower, so Lando disguised himself as a guard and infiltrated Jabba's palace, so was in place for when Luke rescued Han. Han returned the favour by snatching Lando for the jaws of the Sarlacc in teh Tatooine desert. For his courage and recongnition of his skills at the battle of Tanaab, Lando was given the rank of general in the Alliance forces. He then helped lead an attack on the second Death Stars main reactor at the Battle of Endor. Piloting the Falcon, he along with Wedge Antilles in and X-Wing fighter, successfully destroyed the Death Star. Following the battle Lando returned to his private life, establishing a unique mining colony on the planet Nkllon to supply the Rebel Alliance with raw materials. But when the Imperials stole the mole miners used in the operation, for use in an Imperial attack on an important New Repulic Sluis Van shipyard, Lando rejoined the New Republic and helped thwart the attack. Later he helped command the forces at teh battle of Calamari. Lando has gone back and forth between businessman and warrior, he also beccame a leading member of the New Republic special forces team. He will always keep busy, whether its fighting a war or a business matter of helping his friends. And as long as there is a deck of sabacc cards nearby, or hint of adventure, then Calrissian won't be far away. |
